No nifflers were harmed in the making of this post.
I was going through my things a couple of days ago* and I found this gem:
It’s Newt Scamander’s Suitcase (of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them fame)! My brother gave me this stationery set last Christmas –thank you, bro. I have something to write about.
Newt Scamander: Deluxe Stationery Set was released by Insight Editions. The same publisher also came out with other Harry Potter-themed stationery: HP journals (Slytherin, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hogwarts and Deathly Hallows), FBAWTFT journals (Newt Scamander, Obliviate, City Skyline, MACUSA), and Deluxe Stationery Sets (Gryffindor, Hogwarts and Slytherin).**
I can’t believe they don’t offer Hufflepuff-themed stationery??? What a shame.
Honestly, I’d say the best thing about the set is the box. Yes. The whole thing comes in this sweet magnet-flap leatheresque box with a cute “muggle-worthy” detail.
When you open it up, you’d see that the set includes:
- 192-page journal
- Wax stamp and 2 wax sticks
- Letter-writing paper and envelopes
- A paperweight
Everything carries Newt Scamander’s signet, something which I didn’t even know existed until I got this set.
I love the little details, both in the movie and in this set.
After finding (and taking pictures of) this set, I delved into the online fan community of Fantastic Beasts. I love Newton Artemis Fido Scamander. And Pickett. And everyone else.
I didn’t expect to have as much fun as I did watching the film, but Newt’s idiosyncrasies and social awkwardness appealed to me. Plus, my inner biologist fell in love with all the magical creatures.
I can’t imagine a scenario where I’d actually make use of these things –they’re all too pretty to use, you know? I don’t want to ruin anything. Haha!
So it’s back to storage with this set. But it will remain in my heart with my other HP stationery (this cute little luggage I got from Wizarding World in Osaka). I don’t want to start a collection… but I guess I’m getting there.
Happy days!

*I should have been studying, as always.
**They’re coming out with a Wizarding World Travel Journal someday soon, and I’m going to watch out for that.
I haven’t even opened mine yet and it’s been almost 4 months haha.
