Family caregivers (CGs) are essential partners in the informal care
system, providing crucial support for their family members and/or loved
ones. The proposal adapts Pearlin’s Caregiver Stress Process Model to characterize caregiver burden in the Philippine General Hospital context and formulate intervention opportunities.
Four principle intervention areas were identified: caregiver-centered health care services with high-risk screening, accessible information through standardized psychoeducational materials, social organization via support groups, and a supportive environment with institutional and community mobilization for resources.
Presented at the Hong Kong Primary Care Conference in 2025.
